Job Description
Location: Rockford, IL (Greater Northern Illinois Area)
We are seeking a Pharmacist in Charge to oversee the daily operations of a retail pharmacy setting while ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant medication dispensing. This role is responsible for managing pharmacy workflows, supervising staff, and maintaining regulatory compliance across all pharmacy functions.
This position is ideal for a pharmacist with strong leadership experience who can balance operational oversight, patient care, and team management in a structured retail environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring accurate and efficient prescription processing
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with regulations
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, including scheduling, workflow management, and performance oversight
- Maintain control over medication inventory, including ordering, storage, and expiration management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles
- Provide patient counseling and respond to questions regarding medications and treatment plans
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and dispensing of medications
- Stay current with regulatory requirements, including privacy and compliance standards
- Maintain an organized and efficient pharmacy environment
- Address customer concerns and provide solutions in a professional manner
- Support operational reporting and communicate performance updates to leadership
- Assist in maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
- Active Pharmacist license in the state of Illinois required
- Minimum of 3–5 years of retail pharmacy experience required
- Prior pharmacy management or supervisory experience required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience working with pharmacy management systems
- Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations and compliance standards
- Ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced retail environment
Schedule
- Full-time, onsite position
- Monday through Friday schedule
- Standard daytime hours with a structured workday
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $130,000 – $150,000 annually ($62.00 – $72.00 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
