Location: Raleigh, NC (Greater Metro Area)
We are seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to support daily pharmaceutical operations within a fast-paced acute care environment. This on-site role assists pharmacists with medication preparation, IV compounding, automated dispensing cabinet management, and inventory control to ensure safe and timely medication delivery to patient care units.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented pharmacy professional who takes pride in precision and understands the critical role pharmacy plays in patient safety. You will work alongside pharmacists and clinical staff in a hospital setting where accuracy is not optional and every medication matters.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and compound sterile and non-sterile medications according to USP 797 and USP 800 standards
- Load, restock, and troubleshoot automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis, Omnicell) across nursing units
- Process medication orders in the pharmacy information system and verify accuracy prior to dispensing
- Manage pharmacy inventory including receiving, shelving, rotating stock, and handling controlled substance counts
- Deliver stat and scheduled medications to patient care areas within established turnaround times
- Assist pharmacists with medication reconciliation, unit dose packaging, and batch preparation activities
- Maintain clean room compliance and participate in environmental monitoring as required
- Support regulatory survey readiness including documentation for Joint Commission and state board inspections
- Process controlled substance transactions including receipts, returns, waste witnessing, and discrepancy resolution
- Prepare chemotherapy and hazardous drug compounds following USP 800 safety protocols
- Coordinate with nursing staff on medication needs, missing doses, and formulary alternatives
- Participate in pharmacy quality improvement initiatives including medication error prevention programs
- Maintain certification and continuing education requirements per state board and PTCB standards
- Support pharmacy operations during code blue events and emergency medication dispensing situations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT required
- Minimum 1 year of hospital or inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
- IV compounding experience including familiarity with aseptic technique and USP standards
- Knowledge of automated dispensing systems, unit dose distribution, and controlled substance handling
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a high-volume clinical setting
- Willingness to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Current state pharmacy technician registration in North Carolina
Schedule:

- Standard full-time hours per pay period
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $38,000 – $48,000 annually ($18.27 – $23.08 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
