Location: Savannah, GA (Greater Metro Area)

We are seeking a Surgical Services Scheduler to manage the operating room schedule and coordinate surgical case logistics across multiple specialties. This role ensures efficient OR utilization, accurate case booking, and seamless communication between surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and support departments to keep the surgical program running on time and on target.

This position requires someone who thrives on logistics, communication, and precision. The OR schedule is the heartbeat of surgical services, and you will be the person who keeps it organized, optimized, and responsive to the constant changes that are part of every surgical day.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgical cases across multiple operating rooms, coordinating surgeon preferences, equipment needs, and room availability
  • Verify patient insurance authorization and pre-surgical clearance documentation prior to case booking
  • Communicate case details to surgical teams including procedure type, special equipment, implant needs, and patient considerations
  • Manage schedule changes, cancellations, and add-on cases while optimizing block time utilization
  • Coordinate with materials management and sterile processing to ensure instrument and supply readiness for each case
  • Maintain accurate scheduling records in the surgical information system
  • Track and report on OR utilization metrics, case volume, and scheduling efficiency
  • Serve as the primary scheduling contact for surgeon offices and pre-op assessment teams
  • Coordinate with anesthesia scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage for all booked cases
  • Manage surgeon block time allocation, release protocols, and utilization tracking
  • Communicate with patients on pre-operative instructions, arrival times, and facility logistics
  • Support OR committee meetings with utilization data, scheduling trends, and block time performance reports
  • Coordinate equipment and implant vendor scheduling for cases requiring specialized devices
  • Maintain knowledge of surgical terminology, procedure codes, and perioperative documentation requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; associate degree in healthcare administration preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling, OR coordination, or medical office scheduling
  • Knowledge of surgical terminology, procedure codes, and perioperative workflows
  • Experience with surgical scheduling systems (Epic OpTime, SurgiNet, or similar)
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating across multiple clinical departments
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage complex scheduling logistics accurately
  • Customer service mindset for interactions with surgeon offices, patients, and clinical staff

Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Standard business hours
  • Standard full-time hours per pay period

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $40,000 – $50,000 annually ($19.23 – $24.04 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
