Location: Louisville, KY (On-site)

We are seeking a Registered Nurse, Emergency Department to provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for patients presenting with acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions in a high acuity emergency department for a hospital system. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity based onsite in Louisville, KY. The role works at the bedside as part of a cross-functional emergency team, caring for patients across a wide range of presentations, from chest pain and trauma activations to pediatric and behavioral health emergencies.

This role is well aligned for an experienced emergency nurse who thrives in a fast moving clinical setting and brings strong clinical judgment, quick decision making, and a calm, steady presence. The ideal candidate manages multiple patients across varying acuity levels with confidence and works closely with physicians, trauma surgeons, and specialty teams to deliver excellent patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Perform rapid triage assessments using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) to prioritize patient care needs
• Provide direct patient care, including IV access, medication administration, wound care, and procedural assistance
• Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and diagnostic results to identify changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, and specialty consultants on treatment plans
• Administer and monitor emergency medications, including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and procedural sedation agents
• Coordinate patient disposition, including admission, transfer, and discharge planning with appropriate follow-up
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in real time in the emergency EHR
• Participate in trauma activations, code responses, and disaster preparedness drills
• Provide patient and family education on discharge instructions, medication management, and follow-up care
• Manage multiple patients across varying acuity levels throughout the shift

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Active RN license in Kentucky or a compact state required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required, or obtained within 6 months of hire
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of emergency department nursing experience
• Experience with emergency EHR documentation and triage systems
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused in high pressure, rapidly changing clinical situations

Schedule:

• Full-time position
• Onsite in Louisville, KY
• Rotating 12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• 36 to 40 hours per week

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $70,000 – $95,000 annually ($33.65 – $45.67 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
