Job Description

Location: Louisville, KY (Greater Metro Area)

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinical operations by assisting providers with patient care, performing routine clinical tasks, and managing front-office administrative duties. This versatile role combines clinical skills with patient service excellence in a busy outpatient environment where every interaction matters.

Medical assistants are the connective tissue of an outpatient practice. You room the patients, take the vitals, assist with procedures, manage the refills, handle the referrals, and keep the providers on schedule. When the practice runs well, it is usually because the MA team is excellent. If you take pride in being the person who keeps the clinical engine running, this role will put your skills to work every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document chief complaints and medical history updates in the EHR
  • Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and in-office testing
  • Administer injections, perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, and run point-of-care tests per standing orders
  • Manage prescription refill requests, prior authorizations, and pharmacy communication
  • Process referrals to specialists and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness, equipment readiness, and supply inventory
  • Handle incoming patient phone calls, messages, and triage documentation for provider review
  • Support front desk operations including patient check-in, insurance verification, and copay collection as needed
  • Prepare and process lab specimens for send-out testing and coordinate results follow-up
  • Assist with chronic care management activities including care gap outreach and preventive screening scheduling
  • Maintain vaccine storage, temperature logs, and immunization administration records
  • Support provider documentation by scribing or entering orders during patient encounters as needed
  • Participate in infection control practices including instrument sterilization and biohazard waste management
  • Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing training and certification requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or CCMA (NHA) certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical medical assistant experience in an outpatient setting preferred
  • Phlebotomy and injection administration experience required
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and basic medical office technology
  • CPR/BLS certification required
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with strong patient communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a high-volume clinical environment

Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Standard business hours
  • Standard full-time hours per pay period

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $34,000 – $42,000 annually ($16.35 – $20.19 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
