Job Description
Location: Raleigh, NC (Greater Metro Area)
We are seeking an EHR Training Specialist to develop and deliver end-user training programs for clinical and administrative staff on the organization’s electronic health record platform. This role ensures clinicians and support teams can effectively navigate, document, and utilize EHR tools to support quality patient care and operational efficiency.
Technology is only as good as the people using it. A multi-million dollar EHR investment delivers zero value if clinicians do not know how to use it effectively. You will be the bridge between the system and the people who depend on it, designing training programs that turn hesitant users into confident, proficient operators. Every nurse who documents faster, every coder who navigates more efficiently, every scheduler who reduces appointment friction is a direct result of your work.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver classroom, virtual, and one-on-one EHR training sessions for physicians, nurses, and support staff
- Develop training curricula, user guides, quick reference cards, and e-learning modules for new and existing EHR functionality
- Support go-live events for EHR implementations and upgrades including at-the-elbow support on clinical units
- Assess training effectiveness through competency evaluations, satisfaction surveys, and proficiency testing
- Collaborate with clinical informatics and IT teams to translate system changes into user-friendly training content
- Maintain a training environment with up-to-date patient scenarios and workflow simulations
- Track training completion and certification requirements across all departments and user roles
- Identify workflow adoption gaps and recommend targeted retraining or optimization opportunities
- Develop role-specific training paths for clinical, revenue cycle, and administrative user groups
- Support new employee orientation with EHR onboarding training modules
- Create video tutorials and screen recordings for self-service learning resources
- Participate in EHR upgrade testing and provide training impact assessments for planned system changes
- Coordinate training logistics including room scheduling, equipment setup, and credential provisioning
- Maintain current EHR certification and attend vendor-sponsored training events to stay ahead of platform updates
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Education, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
- Minimum 2 years of EHR training or clinical education experience in a healthcare setting
- Epic or Cerner credentialed trainer certification strongly preferred
- Clinical background (RN, MA, or allied health) is a plus for credibility with clinical audiences
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and adult learning design skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse user audiences
- Experience with learning management systems and e-learning authoring tools
- Patient and adaptable teaching style with ability to support users at varying technical comfort levels
Schedule:
- Full-time position
- Standard business hours
- Standard full-time hours per pay period
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $58,000 – $72,000 annually ($27.88 – $34.62 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
