Job Description

Location: Denver, CO (Metro Area)

We are seeking a Pharmacy Operations Manager to lead inpatient pharmacy services within a hospital-based setting. This role is responsible for overseeing medication use processes, supporting clinical pharmacy initiatives, and guiding a team of pharmacists and technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-focused care.

This position is well-suited for a leader who can navigate both operational oversight and clinical support, while contributing to system improvements and fostering a strong, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication preparation, distribution workflows, sterile compounding, and inventory oversight
  • Maintain adherence to all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including USP requirements and state and federal guidelines
  • Evaluate and enhance medication use systems, including automated dispensing technology and electronic workflow integration
  • Oversee medication purchasing, inventory control, and strategies to manage supply challenges while maintaining fiscal responsibility
  • Establish and update internal procedures to support safe and consistent pharmacy operations
  • Track performance metrics and implement process improvements to strengthen efficiency and patient safety outcomes
  • Provide hands-on operational support during staffing gaps or periods of increased demand
  • Support inpatient clinical pharmacy services to promote appropriate, evidence-based medication use
  • Participate in medication safety efforts, including reviewing events and identifying opportunities for system improvement
  • Assist with formulary oversight, medication reviews, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Serve as a key resource for pharmacy-related technology and workflow processes, ensuring alignment between systems and practice
  • Partner with IT and clinical teams to support system functionality, enhancements, and issue resolution
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing performance management
  • Promote staff development through training, mentorship, and cross-functional skill building
  • Provide education and support to nursing staff and providers related to medication use and safety practices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address operational and clinical needs across the organization

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
  • Active pharmacist license in the state of Colorado
  • Hospital pharmacy experience required; leadership experience preferred
  • Experience supporting both operational pharmacy functions and clinical services
  • Prior responsibility for managing pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians
  • Experience working with inpatient pharmacy systems and workflows preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards and medication safety practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Schedule

  • Full-time, onsite position
  • Primarily day shift schedule
  • Occasional after-hours or on-call support may be required based on department needs

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $165,000 – $195,000 annually ($79.00 – $94.00 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Additional performance-based incentives may be available.
