Job Description

Location: Rockville, MD (Onsite)

We are supporting a trusted specialty pharmacy partner in Rockville, Maryland, in hiring an Insurance Access Coordinator. This full-time, on-site role is essential to helping patients start therapy without delay by verifying insurance benefits and identifying coverage solutions across both medical and pharmacy benefit plans. This position is perfect for professionals who understand payer systems and are passionate about removing barriers to care. The right candidate will bring pharmacy or healthcare benefit experience, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-touch patient support setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outbound calls and online benefit investigations to verify coverage for prescribed therapies
  • Capture copay information, authorization requirements, and benefit limitations with a high degree of accuracy
  • Communicate with payers, prescribers, and internal teams to resolve benefit questions and streamline patient onboarding
  • Assist with enrollments into co-pay assistance or manufacturer support programs when insurance barriers exist
  • Maintain complete and timely documentation of all benefit verification activities in internal systems
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and internal SOPs throughout the verification process
  • Support special projects, payer trend reporting, and system updates to optimize patient access workflows

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in benefits investigation, pharmacy operations, or insurance verification required
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance plans, PBMs, government coverage, and assistance programs
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM/patient access software platforms
  • Clear and confident communicator who can explain benefit details and navigate payer systems
  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating across cross-functional teams

Schedule & Work Environment: 

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
  • On-site position in Rockville, MD

Salary Range:The salary range for this position is $45,000 – $55,000 per year ($21.50 – $26.50 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
