Location: Tampa, FL

We are hiring a detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist to join our client’s healthcare team in Tampa, FL. The Insurance Verification Specialist will be responsible for accurately verifying patient insurance information, securing authorizations, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is crucial in supporting patient care and ensuring that billing and claims processes run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance policies, healthcare regulations, and claims procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services.
  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies as required for specific procedures and medications.
  • Accurately input and update insurance information in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Collaborate with billing staff to address any insurance-related discrepancies or denials.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards for insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Conduct audits of patient records to confirm proper documentation for claims processing.
  • Stay current on changes in insurance policies, regulations, and payer requirements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing insurance verification policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training to improve knowledge of insurance verification and billing practices.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verification, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, billing practices, and healthcare regulations.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and insurance verification software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing insurance information.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $37,000 – $46,000 a year ($18.00 – $22.00 per hour), based on experience.
