Job Description
We are hiring for a Registered Nurse – Emergency Department with a acute care hospital / health system located in the US. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Fort Worth, TX (Greater Metro Area)
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department team providing rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for patients presenting with acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions. This high-acuity role demands clinical excellence, quick decision-making, and the ability to thrive under pressure in one of healthcare’s most challenging and rewarding environments.
The ED is where nursing instincts matter most. You will see everything from chest pain to trauma activations, pediatric emergencies to psychiatric crises, all in the same shift. If you are the nurse who stays calm when the room gets loud, who anticipates the next order before the physician gives it, and who finds purpose in the controlled chaos of emergency medicine, this is where you belong.
Responsibilities:
- Perform rapid triage assessments using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) to prioritize patient care needs
- Provide direct patient care including IV access, medication administration, wound care, and procedural assistance
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and diagnostic results to identify changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, and specialty consultants on treatment plans
- Administer and monitor emergency medications including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and procedural sedation agents
- Coordinate patient disposition including admission, transfer, and discharge planning with appropriate follow-up
- Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in real time in the emergency EHR
- Participate in trauma activations, code responses, and disaster preparedness drills
- Provide patient and family education on discharge instructions, medication management, and follow-up care
- Manage multiple patients simultaneously across varying acuity levels throughout the shift
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for new graduate nurses and student nurse rotations
- Maintain competency in emergency procedures including 12-lead ECG interpretation, conscious sedation monitoring, and restraint management
- Participate in ED quality improvement initiatives including door-to-provider time, LWBS reduction, and patient satisfaction
- Maintain all required certifications and participate in ongoing clinical education
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state required; BSN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) certification preferred
- Experience with emergency EHR documentation and triage systems
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress, rapidly changing clinical situations
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Schedule:
- Full-time, on-site position
- Rotating 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- 36-40 hours per week
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $68,000 – $85,000 annually ($32.69 – $40.87 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
Interview Process:
- Selected candidates will participate in a multi-step interview process, including an initial screening with TalentLNX followed by interviews with department leadership.
