Job Description
Location: Chicago, IL
We are hiring for a Wound Care Nurse, RN with a nationally recognized specialty wound care center in Chicago, IL located in the US. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct systematic wound assessments using standardized tools; document dimensions, tissue type, exudate, and pain scores.
- Develop evidence-based wound care plans using clinical guidelines; update based on healing response.
- Perform and supervise advanced wound interventions: debridement, NPWT, compression therapy.
- Select, apply, and evaluate wound dressings based on wound characteristics and healing stage.
- Assess underlying factors: vascular disease, neuropathy, nutrition; coordinate specialist referrals.
- Initiate and manage HBO referrals; coordinate care for non-healing wounds.
- Educate patients on wound self-management: dressing changes, offloading, infection, diet.
- Collaborate with specialists: vascular surgeons, podiatrists, ID physicians for coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation: assessments, treatment rationale, education, care plan changes.
Qualifications:
- Maintain active, unrestricted Illinois RN license; multistate licensure acceptable
- Demonstrate 3+ years clinical nursing with 2+ years dedicated wound care or WOC in outpatient/acute/home health
- Hold CWCN, CWON, or CWS certification; candidates actively pursuing certification considered
- Demonstrate proficiency with NPWT, sharp debridement, compression therapy, and biological/advanced dressings; facility training provided
- Navigate wound care EMR platforms; document accurately for billing compliance and regulatory requirements
- Hold BSN; MSN, DNP, or wound care specialty graduate work preferred
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- On-site in Chicago, IL
- Day shift, clinic hours
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $68,000 – $88,000 annually ($32.69 – $42.31 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
