Assistant Director of Surgery (Days)

Job Description

Location: El Paso, Texas

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Surgery to oversee the day-to-day operations within our clients Surgery department. Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services, the Assistant Director will play a pivotal role in managing personnel, ensuring efficient procedures, overseeing supply and equipment orders, and maintaining schedules to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in supervising all personnel within the Surgery department, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
• Manage the ordering of supplies and equipment necessary for surgical procedures.
• Coordinate and optimize surgical schedules to ensure efficient use of resources and timely patient care.
• Collaborate with the Director of Surgical Services to implement strategic initiatives and quality improvement measures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and safety protocols.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive environment among surgical staff.
• Monitor departmental budgets and financial performance.
• Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of staff.
• Act as a liaison between surgeons, nursing staff, administrative personnel, and other departments.

Required Qualifications:

• Academic degree in nursing (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree).
• Master’s degree in nursing, health administration, business, public health, or management.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting, preferably in a managerial or full-time charge nurse role within Surgery.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred Qualifications:

• • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Experience with surgical scheduling software or electronic health records (EHR).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to supervise multiple areas within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $95,000 a year.

3. Onsite Interview with the Director of Surgical Services.
4. Final Onsite Interview with key stakeholders, such as senior nursing staff, surgeons, or other department heads.
