Job Description

Location: Augusta, GA (Onsite)

We are supporting a specialty pharmacy in its search for a Pharmacy Benefit Verification Specialist based in Augusta, Georgia. This full-time, on-site position plays a critical role in helping patients access the medications they need, particularly those undergoing treatment for complex or chronic conditions. The ideal candidate brings pharmacy benefit knowledge, insurance navigation experience, and a patient-first mindset. Responsibilities:

  • Verify pharmacy and medical benefits using payer portals and electronic benefit verification tools
  • Accurately enter and update patient insurance information, including primary, secondary, and tertiary coverage
  • Run test claims to confirm eligibility and identify the best reimbursement path
  • Coordinate and monitor prior authorization requests for commercial and government plans
  • Assist patients in enrolling in copay assistance and other financial support programs
  • Clearly communicate benefit information to prescribers, pharmacy staff, and patients
  • Maintain organized, compliant documentation in pharmacy systems
  • Collaborate with pharmacy operations and dispensing teams to ensure efficient prescription processing
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and industry best practices for patient data security and compliance

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary training or certification in healthcare or pharmacy is a plus
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in pharmacy operations, insurance verification, or healthcare billing
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy benefits, PBMs, and benefit coordination
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software, payer portals, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred or willingness to obtain within 6–12 months

Schedule & Work Environment: 

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Shifts between 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST
  • Occasional weekend rotation may be required based on operational needs
  • On-site position based in Augusta, GA
  • Team-oriented specialty pharmacy setting with a strong emphasis on collaboration, learning, and service excellence

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $41,000 – $52,000 per year ($20.00 – $25.00 per hour), depending on experience.
