Job Description

Location: Dallas, TX

This is a full-time work-from-home position. Employees must be located in or within a commutable distance to the Dallas–Fort Worth area to attend required onsite training. Periodic travel to healthcare facilities may be required as part of the role.

We are seeking a Clinical Audit Nurse to support healthcare charge review and auditing activities across a variety of care settings. This role focuses on reviewing medical documentation and billing records to evaluate whether services were appropriately documented and charges align with clinical records and industry standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong acute care nursing experience, a high level of attention to detail, and comfort working independently in a remote, audit-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records and related billing documentation to assess whether services were appropriately documented and charged.
  • Conduct clinical charge reviews across multiple care settings, which may include inpatient, outpatient, and specialized services.
  • Identify billing discrepancies such as unsupported charges, duplications, or documentation gaps.
  • Document findings clearly and accurately using established audit and reporting standards.
  • Manage assigned workload independently, including scheduling reviews and meeting turnaround expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members regarding audit status, findings, and questions.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Represent the organization professionally when interacting with external healthcare partners as needed.
  • Perform additional duties to support audit and operational objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required.
  • Five or more years of clinical nursing experience in acute care settings such as OR, ICU, ER, or comparable environments preferred.
  • Prior experience in clinical auditing, charge review, utilization review, or related functions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment while managing multiple priorities.

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • Full-time, work-from-home position.
  • Standard weekday schedule.
  • Required onsite training in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
  • Periodic travel to healthcare facilities may be required.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $90,000 annually (approximately $28.85 – $43.27 per hour), based on experience.
