Job Description
Location: Toledo, OH
We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist to support a high-volume specialty pharmacy operation in the Toledo area. This role focuses on clinical order verification, therapy oversight, and collaboration with prescribers and internal care teams to support patients receiving complex medications.
The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment, understands specialty medication workflows, and is comfortable navigating payer requirements and high-cost therapies. You are detail-oriented, collaborative, and confident communicating with providers regarding therapy optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Review and verify specialty medication orders for accuracy, dosing, interactions, and clinical appropriateness
- Ensure prescriptions are processed and labeled in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Communicate with prescribers and healthcare teams regarding therapy clarification or adjustments
- Oversee technician workflow and prescription preparation processes
- Support prior authorization and payer coordination processes when needed
- Investigate and resolve medication-related inquiries
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and clinical documentation
- Ensure compliance with specialty pharmacy protocols and quality standards
- Contribute to quality improvement and operational performance initiatives
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Ohio Pharmacist license required
- Previous specialty pharmacy experience preferred
- Strong understanding of high-cost and complex therapies
- Familiarity with payer requirements and prior authorization workflows preferred
- Excellent analytical and clinical reasoning skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Comfortable working in a metrics-driven, high-volume environment
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Full-time onsite role
- Monday–Friday schedule
- Standard day-shift hours
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $104,000 – $135,200 annually (approximately $50.00 – $65.00 per hour), based on experience.
