Job Description

Location: Atlanta, GA (Greater Metro Area)

We are seeking a Medical Billing Supervisor to lead billing operations within a revenue cycle management environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily billing workflows, supporting team performance, resolving complex reimbursement issues, and ensuring claims are processed accurately and efficiently.

This position is ideal for an experienced medical billing professional with strong leadership skills, deep payer knowledge, and the ability to guide a team through complex claims, denials, appeals, and reimbursement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of billing specialists responsible for charge entry, claims submission, and accounts receivable follow-up
  • Monitor productivity, error rates, aging benchmarks, and other key billing performance metrics
  • Resolve complex claim denials, payer escalations, appeals, and reimbursement issues
  • Audit billing accuracy, coding compliance, and charge capture processes
  • Train staff on payer-specific requirements, billing workflows, system updates, and process changes
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex billing questions and payer-related issues
  • Prepare weekly and monthly accounts receivable reports, including aging analysis and collection trends
  • Coordinate with coding, patient access, and clinical teams to resolve billing discrepancies
  • Manage daily work queue assignments and ensure balanced account distribution across the team
  • Support process improvements to strengthen billing accuracy, reimbursement outcomes, and team efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing guidelines
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and support to help team members meet performance expectations

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of medical billing experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience required
  • Strong knowledge of CMS-1500, UB-04, CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and medical billing requirements
  • Experience using practice management systems, clearinghouse platforms, and EHR billing modules
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer compliance guidelines
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and support billing teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Standard business hours
  • Standard full-time hours per pay period

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $60,000 – $75,000 annually ($28.85 – $36.06 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
