Job Description

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join a specialty pharmacy team in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity based on-site in Pittsburgh. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-touch clinical pharmacy services in a non-retail specialty pharmacy setting where quality of care and attention to detail are the standard.

This role is ideal for a pharmacist with a strong specialty background who brings clinical confidence, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to the patients they serve. You will provide direct clinical services alongside dispensing support, work closely with prescribers and care teams, and guide patients and caregivers through their medication journey. The ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise independent judgment, and adapt in a dynamic environment will set you apart in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dispensing and comprehensive clinical pharmacy services within a specialty pharmacy environment
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to develop and optimize individualized treatment plans
  • Educate patients and caregivers on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies
  • Monitor patient outcomes and make clinical recommendations to support therapy optimization
  • Ensure compliance with specialty pharmacy protocols, regulatory guidelines, and best practices
  • Work with pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and patient assistance programs to support medication access
  • Assist with prior authorization processes and help navigate insurance barriers for timely treatment initiation
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of clinical interventions and patient interactions
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians throughout the prescription fulfillment process
  • Provide on-call support to patients and healthcare providers outside of standard business hours
  • Staff as a dispensing pharmacist and support operations as needed
  • Obtain and maintain pharmacist licensure in additional states as operationally required
  • Stay current with emerging therapies, clinical guidelines, and advancements in specialty pharmacy practice

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited pharmacy school required
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a specialty pharmacy setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations, including workflow design and program implementation
  • Experience supervising and training pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain additional state pharmacist licensure(s) as requested
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong independent judgment and time management skills
  • Preferred: Multi-state pharmacist licensure

Schedule

  • Full-time, on-site position in Pittsburgh, PA
  • Monday through Friday, standard daytime hours
  • Periodic evening coverage required
  • Shared on-call rotation; after-hours call volume is minimal

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is approximately $123,000 – $148,000 annually ($59.13 – $71.15 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
