Job Description
Location: Houston, TX
We are hiring for a Clinical Pharmacist, Oncology with a premier cancer center located in the US. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Dispense chemotherapy and supportive care medications with comprehensive pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic assessment.
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary oncology rounds, provide pharmacotherapy recommendations, and document interventions.
- Conduct medication reconciliation at admission and transitions, resolving drug interactions and oral oncology barriers.
- Review chemotherapy orders against pathways and NCCN guidelines, escalating deviations to oncologists.
- Counsel patients and caregivers on chemotherapy schedules, side effects, and self-management strategies.
- Manage investigational drug orders for Phase I-III clinical trials in IRB and FDA compliance.
- Lead pharmacovigilance activities including adverse event identification, grading per CTCAE, and safety reporting.
- Oversee renal and hepatic dose adjustments using population pharmacokinetic models and institutional guidelines.
- Serve as clinical resource on oncology-specific drug therapy, antiemetics, growth factors, and symptom management.
Qualifications:
- Hold Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
- Maintain active pharmacist license; obtain Texas licensure at hire or within 90 days
- Complete ASHP-accredited PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency preferred, or 3+ years clinical oncology pharmacy practice
- Maintain Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) credential; obtain within 12 months if not currently certified
- Possess advanced clinical knowledge of chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, immunotherapy, targeted inhibitors, and supportive care
- Master Epic Beacon or equivalent EHR system; manage chemotherapy orders and prior authorization workflows
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- On-site in Houston, TX
- Day shift with occasional weekend coverage
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $130,000 – $155,000 annually ($62.50 – $74.52 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
