Location: Raleigh, NC
We are seeking a skilled and detail-driven Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join a growing healthcare organization in Raleigh, NC. This is a hybrid role, requiring 4 days onsite each week. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate billing, coding, and reimbursement for medical services. We’re looking for someone with deep expertise in ICD-10 and CPT coding, a sharp eye for detail, and a proactive mindset when it comes to solving billing issues and keeping revenue flowing.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately review, interpret, and code medical records and documentation using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Submit and follow up on insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement from government and commercial payers.
- Monitor and manage claim denials, rejections, and appeals to maximize revenue.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services being rendered.
- Work closely with clinical staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding or billing discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer-specific guidelines, and current billing and coding regulations.
- Generate billing reports, track outstanding claims, and support monthly reconciliation processes.
- Assist with audits and internal reviews to ensure coding accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Keep current with industry updates and coding best practices through ongoing education and training.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Certification from an accredited program (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and insurance billing procedures.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Hybrid Schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $47,000 – $60,000 a year ($23.00 – $29.00 per hour), based on experience.
