Job Description
Location: Boston, MA
We are hiring for a Ambulatory Surgery Center RN with a high-volume, fast-paced ambulatory surgery center located in the US. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments including medical history, allergies, medications, and NPO status per AORN.
- Establish IV access, administer pre-operative medications, and complete pre-surgical checklist items.
- Circulate the operating room, manage sterile field, and coordinate instrument counts.
- Execute surgical time-out per AORN, verifying patient identity, surgical site, and procedure.
- Document all intra-operative care in real-time in the electronic health record.
- Receive PACU patients and continuously monitor vital signs, consciousness, pain, and surgical site.
- Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and vomiting using multimodal approach with anesthesia.
- Assess and document PACU phase II milestones and discharge readiness criteria.
- Provide discharge education on wound care, activity, diet, medications, and warning signs.
Qualifications:
- Maintain active, unencumbered Massachusetts RN license; multi-state compact accepted.
- Provide 3+ years perioperative experience in ASC, OR, or PACU; multi-specialty background preferred.
- Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications through American Heart Association.
- Hold or pursue CNOR or CPAN certification within 18 months of hire.
- Demonstrate proficiency in surgical asepsis, sterile field management, and AORN-compliant perioperative documentation.
- Operate EHR systems in perioperative settings; Modernizing Medicine, HST Pathways, or SIS preferred.
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- On-site in Boston, MA
- Early start shift; no overnight call
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $72,000 – $92,000 annually ($34.62 – $44.23 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
