Job Description
Location: Philadelphia, PA (Onsite)
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator, Acute Care to support nursing education, staff development, and clinical excellence across an acute care hospital environment. This role is responsible for designing and facilitating education programs, supporting competency development, and partnering with nursing leadership to strengthen clinical practice and patient care outcomes.
This position is ideal for an experienced RN who is passionate about mentorship, clinical education, and helping nursing teams grow through structured learning, hands-on training, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design and facilitate orientation programs for acute care nursing staff, including new graduates and experienced hires
- Conduct learning needs assessments using quality metrics, incident trends, and clinical observations to identify education priorities
- Deliver simulation-based training for clinical skills including IV therapy, wound care, code response, and patient deterioration recognition
- Develop and maintain competency validation programs, skills checklists, assessments, and educational materials
- Collaborate with nurse managers and leadership teams on remediation plans and staff development initiatives
- Support nursing education activities related to Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Develop clinical education tools, guidelines, and policies aligned with evidence-based nursing practice standards
- Coach and support nursing preceptors through structured development and orientation support activities
- Facilitate interdisciplinary education sessions with nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and allied health teams
- Support onboarding, continuing education, and professional development initiatives across acute care departments
- Monitor education outcomes and identify opportunities for ongoing clinical improvement
- Maintain documentation related to competencies, training completion, and regulatory education requirements
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education, Clinical Education, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Experience in Med-Surg, ICU, ED, Step-Down, or related acute care specialties preferred
- Prior charge nurse, preceptor, or education experience preferred
- NPD-BC certification strongly preferred; specialty certifications such as CCRN, CMSRN, CEN, or PCCN valued
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum development, and competency-based education practices
- Experience supporting simulation-based training and clinical education technology preferred
- Strong communication, presentation, mentorship, and collaboration skills
Schedule:
- Full-time, onsite position
- Monday through Friday schedule with occasional evening or weekend education sessions
- Some travel between health system campuses may be required
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $72,000 – $92,000 annually ($34.62 – $44.23 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
