Job Description

Location: Detroit, MI (Greater Metro Area)

We are seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) to support nursing leadership within an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role is responsible for assisting with the oversight of nursing operations, supporting staff performance, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with leadership experience in psychiatric or behavioral health environments who can support clinical teams, drive performance improvements, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support nursing leadership in overseeing daily operations of inpatient behavioral health services
  • Assist in coordinating staffing, workflow, and patient care activities to ensure efficient operations
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure patient care meets physical, psychological, and social needs
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and standards
  • Support performance management, staff development, and training initiatives
  • Assist in evaluating staffing needs and adjusting resources to meet patient care demands
  • Participate in incident investigations and support root cause analysis processes
  • Promote patient safety initiatives and adherence to quality standards
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures
  • Support documentation standards and ensure accuracy and compliance across nursing records
  • Provide leadership support during shifts and serve as a resource for nursing staff
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and organizational goals
  • Participate in committees and interdisciplinary collaboration efforts
  • Provide direct patient care support when needed

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan required
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience required
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatric settings strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • CPR certification required; additional certifications provided as needed

Schedule

  • Full-time, onsite position
  • Day shift or variable schedule based on operational needs

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $110,000 – $135,000 annually ($53.00 – $65.00 per hour), based on experience and qualifications. Bonus and relocation assistance may be available.
