Job Description
Location: Houston, TX
We are hiring for a Registered Nurse, Med-Surg / Float Pool with a growing acute-care health system located in Houston, Texas. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Carry a full patient assignment on Med-Surg, telemetry, or step-down units as floated
- Complete head-to-toe assessments and reassessments per facility protocol
- Administer medications and IV therapy safely, with second-RN verification where required
- Manage central lines, peripheral IVs, wound care, and post-operative recovery
- Interpret telemetry rhythms and escalate clinically significant changes promptly
- Document care, response, and education in the EHR within shift
- Coordinate with hospitalists, specialists, case managers, and discharge planners
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to the daily plan of care
- Educate patients and family members on diagnoses, procedures, and discharge instructions
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas or compact state in good standing
- Minimum 2 years acute-care experience, preferably Med-Surg or telemetry
- Current BLS certification; ACLS within 90 days of hire
- Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills under pressure
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic, Cerner, or Meditech
- Ability to float across at least three different units and adapt quickly
Schedule
Onsite at multiple facilities in metro Houston. Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night options) including weekends and holidays per unit needs.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is approximately $75,000 – $110,000 annually ($36.06 – $52.88 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
